President’s Update: December 2021

Club President Adrian Sibbick's update on training, coaches, registrations and new club partners before the Christmas break.

Seasons Greetings everyone,

We’ve hit the festive season and there’s some exciting club news to come in the New Year.

Firstly though, I want to thank our coaches and players for their commitment to training during the reopening of NSW. Numbers and enthusiasm have been great.

We were hoping to have a proper farewell at our last training (before breakup), but due to rising COVID numbers the football committee has made the decision to end training for the year.  Training will resume again in January.

As you’ll appreciate, player and coach safety is a priority for the club, and the committee reached this decision following feedback from both groups.

This will ensure many of our players who are looking to return home to other states for the festive period are able to do so, and that our NSW-based players are also able to ensure their safety ahead of the break.

2021 has been a tough year for everyone, but we’re excited to have so many new and returning players out on the track in November and December and look forward to welcoming you back on track in January.

The new training schedule for 2022 has been released here.

Earlybat Registration extended

As an early Christmas present we’ve extended Earlybat registrations to February 7. It’s an important time to get around the club as we prepare for a big 2022 season. There’s a $70 saving for Earlybat regos for our full priced playing memberships, and similar reductions on concession memberships (UTS Students, ADF, U19 players). Make sure you register before the price goes up here.

New coaches

I want to welcome our returning 2021 coaches and new coaches for the 2022 season.

Much work has gone into preparing our coaching program for the year ahead and having Kyle and Miguel return to lead our men’s and women’s programs is a significant early win for the Bats, ensuring stability and consistency for the upcoming season.

We are still looking for head coaches for our Men’s Division 1 and 2 teams, so if you know someone who is interested, please refer them to the position advertisement on our website.

Tom Borrillo and Tait Mackrill

Congratulations to both Tom and Tait on being named club champions for 2021 after strong seasons on the field. Tom had a very consistent season playing almost every game in the Prems and establishing himself as an important part of our midfield. Tait’s ability has spoken for itself over her time at the club and she continues to lead as both a player and assistant coach. Congrats to them and all of our other award winners.

The Golden Sheaf

The feedback of our first even at The Golden Sheaf has been incredibly positive.

For those who missed it, The Golden Sheaf has come on board as our new joint major partner with UTS Sport and will be our after-match function venue for Thursday after training and Saturday after matches.

Enjoy Christmas and New Year everyone. Stay safe and have a great break.
