About

"AN ELITE CLUB BUILT AS ONE TEAM, ON AND OFF THE FIELD"

The UTS Australian Football Club (‘the Bats’) has grown to become one of the largest and most popular clubs in Sydney, and the biggest in the city’s eastern suburbs.

Playing and training across three grounds, the Bats play home games at Trumper Park in Edgecliff and Waverley Oval in Bondi, and also train at Bat and Ball Oval in Moore Park.

The Bats were established in 2000 and from humble beginnings, the Club has grown into the powerhouse club of AFL Sydney.

The Bats currently field 11 teams in both Men’s Premier Division and Women’s Premier Division, as well as Men’s U19.5s Division 1 and 2, Women’s U20s Division 1, Men’s Divisions 2, 3 and 4 and Masters, and Women’s Divisions 1 and 3.

CLUB VISION

To be an elite club built as One team, on and off the field. We will do this by:

1. Developing a leading club and performance culture in the Sydney AFL, building on our foundations and utilising our community and networks

2. By working for each other and showing up to support the club

3. To Deliver us results – drive engagement, retain players and get us results on and off the field

wOMEN'S gAME

In 2019 we undertook a merger of male and female clubs to become a fully inclusive club under one governance structure and single brand.  Ever since the club has been a vocal and outcomes driven leader in driving the growth of female football in Sydney.

The club is strongly committed to aligning to the
AFL Women’s Football Vision 2021-2030 and implementing the Women and Girls Game Development Action Plan Phase 1 Summary 2022-2025.

Some achievements that we are proud of include:

  • A Club Constitution which requires a female President or Vice President;
  • The Bats is one of the largest senior women’s clubs in Sydney with 3 senior teams and the introduction, in 2024, of our inaugral women’s U20s team, taking the number of female teams to 4; and
  • Having 3 AFLW players drafted in the last 3 seasons (Claudia Gunjaca to Geelong, Grace Hill to GWS Giants & Tanya Kennedy to Sydney Swans)

CLUB VALUES

Our Culture is one of the most important aspects of the club and we have developed values that exemplify the standards we hold ourselves to:
