AFL legend Kevin Sheedy was as popular as ever when the Bats officially opened the 2014 season at the Eakin McCaffery Cox Launch Lunch at La Scala on Jersey.

The four-time premiership winning coach had the capacity crowd in raptures as he told stories from his 50 years in the game and discussed a range of current AFL topics.

Sheedy, who’s now a director at the GWS Giants also discussed his vision for AFL in NSW and how he believes the game will continue to grow in Australia’s biggest city.

The Bats would like to thank Kevin Sheedy for always being so generous with his time and once again supporting the club.

The event was hosted by Channel 7’s Alex Hart, while President Nick Haslam addressed the room and shared his vision for the club, as the Bats aim for a maiden finals appearance in the Premier Division.

The UTS Bats season gets underway this Saturday, March 29 against traditional rival UNSW/ES at Trumper Park.

All friends of the Bats are encouraged to come along and support the four grades playing at Trumper, and also join in the post match function at the Light Brigade Hotel on Saturday night.
