Dear Bats & Shamrocks,
It was great to see many of you at training on Tuesday night. Plenty of people have put in a lot of hard work of summer and I’m sure 2015 is going to be a big year for the club.
For those who couldn’t attend, I want to bring you up to speed on a few things ahead of the season.
In 2015, UTS AFC will field five teams – four mens teams and the Shamrocks representing the club in the women’s competition.
The Bats will continue to field a team in the Premier Division and Division 1, and in 2015 will also field a team in Division 3 and Division 5.
This is one less team in the mens comp to last year. This tough decision has been made in consulation with AFL Sydney for a number of reasons, including: 1. inability to consistently field five teams in 2014 due to lack of numbers, 2. attendance at pre-season training comparatively down on previous years, 3. the need for Div 4 to move up to Div 3 stretching resources in the higher grades, 4. a greater emphasis from the club on success in the Premier Division

It was remiss of me not to mention the Shamrocks in my announcement last night. It’s been fantastic to have the Shamrocks train all summer with the Bats and their involvement is imperative to our club continuing to grow.
We are all one club playing under the UTS Bats banner and we look forward to seeing the Shamrocks having another brilliant year in 2015.
Another important change over the summer has been for us to relocate the Bat cave to the Royal Oak in Double Bay.
I’d love for as many of you as possible to join us at the Royal Oak this Saturday February 28 from 3pm for pre-season drinks. Publican Pete Tate will be on hand to welcome the club to his establishment and it’s important that we make a strong first impression.
Pete and his team have put together a very impressive food menu so click here to check it out, and we’ll see you at the new Bat Cave on Saturday from 3pm.
